A Cherry Hill Lawyer For Cherry Hill Crashes

Cherry Hill has more than 74,000 residents and some of the busiest roads in South Jersey. Between the shopping-center traffic on Route 70, the commuters on Route 38 and I-295, and the trucks on the Turnpike, crashes here happen every day.

Attorney Blaise Richards lives in Cherry Hill and represents people hurt in car accidents across the township, from Kingston and Erlton to Barclay, Woodcrest and Springdale. Before representing injured people, he spent more than five years working for a major insurance carrier, so he knows how adjusters value car accident claims and how to push back.

Local roads

Where Car Accidents Happen In Cherry Hill

  • Route 70: multi-lane traffic with constant turns into shopping centers, restaurants and office parks, plus the Route 70 / I-295 interchange.
  • Route 38: high-speed commercial traffic near the Cherry Hill Mall, with frequent rear-end and lane-change crashes.
  • I-295 and the New Jersey Turnpike: interstate speeds, merging traffic and heavy truck volume.
  • Route 41 (Kings Highway), Route 154 and Evesham Road: busy local connectors with intersection and rear-end crashes.
  • Parking lots at the Cherry Hill Mall, Garden State Park and the Route 70 shopping centers, where backing and turning crashes often involve pedestrians too.

Camden County recorded 241 traffic deaths from 2021 to 2025, according to New Jersey State Police data. See our South Jersey crash data report for the county-by-county numbers.

How it works

How A Cherry Hill Car Accident Claim Works

1. Your own PIP pays your medical bills first

New Jersey is a no-fault state. After a crash, your own auto policy’s Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage usually pays your medical bills first, no matter who caused the accident. How much PIP you have depends on the policy you chose.

2. Your tort option decides whether you can sue for pain and suffering

Most New Jersey drivers have the “limitation on lawsuit” (limited tort) option. With it, you can only recover for pain and suffering if your injury falls into one of the categories in N.J.S.A. 39:6A-8(a): death, dismemberment, significant disfigurement or scarring, a displaced fracture, loss of a fetus, or a permanent injury confirmed by a doctor. If you have the “no limitation” (full tort) option, those limits don’t apply. Your tort option is listed on your insurance declarations page.

3. A claim against the at-fault driver covers what PIP doesn’t

A bodily injury claim against the at-fault driver can cover pain and suffering and costs PIP doesn’t pay. New Jersey’s minimum liability limits rose to $35,000 per person and $70,000 per accident on January 1, 2026, but many drivers still carry only the minimum. If their coverage isn’t enough, your own underinsured motorist (UIM) coverage may help.

4. Fault is shared, not all-or-nothing

Under New Jersey’s comparative negligence law, you can recover as long as you were 50% or less at fault, and your award is reduced by your share. Insurers often try to shift blame onto the injured driver, so evidence matters: photos, dashcam or store video, witness names and the police report.

Where your case goes

Where Your Case Is Handled

Most people hurt in Cherry Hill are treated at Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital on Chapel Avenue or, for the most serious injuries, at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, a Level I trauma center. If a lawsuit is needed, a Cherry Hill car accident case is usually filed in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Law Division, in Camden County. Any traffic tickets from the crash go to Cherry Hill Municipal Court separately.

You generally have two years from the crash to file a lawsuit. If a public entity may be responsible, such as a township vehicle, a county road defect or an NJ Transit bus, a notice of claim is usually due within 90 days. See our guide to New Jersey filing deadlines.

After a crash

What To Do After A Car Accident In Cherry Hill

  1. Call 911 so Cherry Hill police (or the State Police on I-295 and the Turnpike) prepare a crash report.
  2. Get medical care right away, even if you feel okay.
  3. Photograph the vehicles, the scene and your injuries, and get witness names.
  4. Report the crash to your own insurer to open your PIP claim.
  5. Don’t give a recorded statement to the other driver’s insurer before talking to a lawyer.

More detail is in our guide on what to do after a car accident in New Jersey.

Questions

Cherry Hill Car Accident FAQs

Do I need a lawyer for a Cherry Hill car accident?

Not for every fender-bender. But if you were hurt, missed work, or the insurer is disputing fault or your injuries, a free consultation can tell you what your claim may be worth and which deadlines apply.

I have limited tort. Can I still bring a claim?

Yes, if your injury meets one of the legal thresholds, such as a displaced fracture or a permanent injury supported by medical proof. Even if it doesn’t, you may still have PIP and economic-loss claims.

How do I get my Cherry Hill crash report?

Crash reports are prepared by the responding police department, usually Cherry Hill Police for local roads or the New Jersey State Police for the Turnpike and I-295. We can request it for you. The report lists each driver’s insurer as a three-digit code, and our New Jersey auto insurance codes guide explains what yours means.

How much does it cost to hire you?

Nothing upfront. We work on a contingency fee, so there’s no fee unless we win.
